Loggers Drop Two on the Day

G1 - Lake Land

Both teams were strong on the mound on Saturday, but Lake Land College was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-2 victory over the Loggers. Porter Conn started the game for the Loggers and recorded 18 outs. The Loggers lost despite out-hitting Lake Land College six to four. Hunter Moser led the Loggers with two hits. The Loggers were the first to get on the board in the second when Danny Cihocki induced Andrew Randazzo to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Lake Land College took the lead in the bottom of the second. An error scored two runs, to give Lake Land College the lead, 2-1. Lake Land College added one run in the third. Luca Mendez hit a sacrifice fly, making the score 3-1.

Cihocki earned the win for Lake Land College. They allowed five hits and two runs (one earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one. Conn took the loss for the Loggers. The lefty went six innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out eight and walking five. Dicky Gonzalez earned the save.

Wandel Campana and Randazzo each drove in one run for the Loggers. The Loggers turned one double play in the game.

Mendez led the team with one run batted in. Collyn Ballard, Drew DuPont, Owen Anderson, and McKenna Wakakuwa each collected one hit for Lake Land College. Lake Land College stole three bases in the game.

G2 - Lake Land

A walk-off left the Loggers on the wrong end of a 4-3 defeat to Lake Land College on Saturday. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the tenth when Owen Anderson singled, scoring one run.

The Loggers lost despite out-hitting Lake Land College 11 to seven. Nolan McMasters, Andrew Randazzo, and Andrew Hendrickson each collected two hits for the Loggers. Lake Land College got on the board in the third inning after lan Farrell singled, scoring one run. The Loggers captured the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fourth after Hunter Moser singled, and Braylan Smith walked, each scoring one run.

Lake Land College scored on a wild pitch, which helped Lake Land College tie the game at two in the bottom of the fifth. The Loggers took the lead in the top of the seventh. Caleb Royer hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, to give Loggers the upper hand, 3-2. Bryaden Smith doubled, which helped Lake Land College tie the game at three in the bottom of the eighth.

Ethan Clark earned the win for Lake Land College. They allowed six hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking none. Eli Curtis took the loss for the Loggers. They went one and one-third innings, surrendering one run on one hit, striking out two and walking one.

Zane Danielson began the game for the Loggers. The lefty allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out six and walking five. Jack Tobin led things off on the hill for Lake Land College. The righty allowed five hits and two runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking one. The Loggers piled up 11 hits in the game. Moser, Royer, and Smith each drove in one run for the Loggers. The Loggers ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game. The Loggers turned one double play in the game.

Kiefer Tarnoki set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Lake Land College with two hits in five at bats. Farrell, Anderson, and Smith each drove in one run for Lake Land College. Lake Land College had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Collyn Ballard and Moises Rosario led the team with two bases on balls each. Lake Land College turned one double play in the game.

Loggers play at home on Wednesday against Millikin University in their next game.
