LLCC vs ICC Game 1:
Friday's game against Illinois Central College was a heartbreaker for the Loggers, as they lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat. The game was tied at three with ICC batting in the top of the ninth when Riley McCallister doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Loggers tied things up at three when Trace Melody singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Kaiden Rixner earned the victory on the hill for Illinois Central. The pitcher allowed one hit and three runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one. Gavin Thompson threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Thompson recorded the last out to earn the save for ICC. Griffin Neuweg took the loss for Loggers. The righty lasted two innings, allowing three hits and two runs while walking zero.
Ben Draeger started the game for Lincoln Land. Draeger lasted six innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out six and walking one Nick Hainline started the game for ICC. The ace went seven innings, allowing one run on eight hits, striking out six and walking one The Loggers totaled nine hits. Luke Kracik and Melody all managed multiple hits for the Loggers, each notching two hits to lead their team.
ICC totaled ten hits in the game. Beau Durbin, Kaleb Gauf, and McCallister each had multiple hits for ICC. Durbin went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
LLCC vs ICC Game 2:
Both teams were strong on the pitcher's mound Friday, but the Loggers defeated Illinois Central College 3-1. Mitch Dye allowed just two hits. The Loggers got things started in the second inning, when Hunter Moser singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Dye led the the Loggers to victory on the hill. Dye allowed two hits and one run over seven innings, striking out ten.
Gage Burdick took the loss for ICC. The hurler surrendered two runs on two hits over four innings, striking out five. Trent Koehler went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Loggers in hits. The Loggers didn't commit a single error in the field. Grant Pohlman had the most chances in the field with 11.
Beau Durbin led Illinois Central with two hits in three at bats. Illinois Central college didn't commit a single error in the field. Josh Heyder had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
