Southwestern Illinois College Defeat the Loggers in Friday Match Up

LLCC vs SWIC Game 1:

The Loggers watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 10-5 loss to Southwestern Illinois College on Friday. Southwestern Illinois College took the lead on a home run in the second inning. Grant Pohlman drove in four runners in the loss.  Pohlman drove in runs on a grand slam in the sixth.In the second inning, SWIC got their offense started.  Nick Varon drove in two when Varon homered. The Loggers notched four runs in the sixth inning, scored its runs on a grand slam by Pohlman.

Southwestern Illinois scored three runs in the sixth inning.  SWIC scored its runs on a home run by Jacob Rowold Tyler Robertson earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Southwestern Illinois College. The lefty lasted four innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out seven.  Reed Braundmeier and Chris Thilman entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Mitch Dye started the game for the Loggers. Dye allowed seven hits and seven runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four.  Zane Danielson and Griffin Neuweg entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and a third innings and one inning respectively. The Loggers socked one home run on the day. Pohlman went deep in the sixth inning.The Loggers racked up seven hits.  Pohlman and Trent Koehler each racked up multiple hits for Lincoln Land.  Pohlman led Lincoln Land with three hits in four at bats.

Southwestern Illinois College saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game.  Jared Comia, Rowold, and Cameron Hailstone all managed multiple hits for SWIC.  Gavin Arseneau led SWIC with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with four stolen bases.

LLCC vs SWIC Game 2:
Lincoln Land lost the lead late in an 8-6 defeat to SWIC on Friday.  SWIC was down 6-5 in the top of the seventh inning when Mike Maloney singled on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs. The Loggers collected six hits and SWIC had ten in the high-scoring affair. Southwestern Illinois College opened up scoring in the first inning.  SWIC scored two runs when Gabriel Thien homered.

The Loggers tallied three runs in the sixth inning.  Loggers batters contributing to the big inning included Grant Pohlman and Luke Kracik, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Turner Doran earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for SWIC. Doran allowed one hit and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one.  Nick Altenbaumer threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Adam Lindsey was on the pitcher's mound for Lincoln Land. The righthander surrendered three runs on five hits over three innings, striking out five and walking zero.  Logan Antrim, Brannan Kraft, Trent Koehler, and Evan Addis each entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings, one and one-third innings, two-thirds of an inning, and one-third of an inning respectively.

Coby Rogers started the game for SWIC. The righthander surrendered three runs on four hits over five innings, striking out six. Caleb Royer led the Loggers with two hits in four at bats. SWIC had ten hits in the game.  George Astacio, Brandon James, and Grant Richars all collected multiple hits for Southwestern Illinois College.  Astacio went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead SWIC in hits.
