Women's Basketball Get A Home Win Saturday

Lincoln Land played host to Black Hawk College on Saturday and had decisive victory with a final score of 73-54.  The Loggers set the tone early and used a half court trapping defense to outscore Black Hawk 25-11 in the first period.  "Our energy was great in the first half.  It's really fun to play like that." Stated Coach Chad Jones.  Lincoln Land managed to make three baskets from long range in the first quarter.  The second quarter saw a continuation of the pressure from Lincoln Land.  Black Hawk turned the ball over 17 times in the first half.  The half time score was 44-23 in favor of the Loggers.

The second half was much more evenly matched.  Lincoln Land out scored Black Hawk 20-15 in the third quarter. However, the Loggers began to struggle a bit in the final frame.  Lincoln Land started breaking the Black Hawk press only to take quick shots.  "Our shot selection wasn't great late in the game.  We need to work on finishing team a bit better." Said Jones.  The Loggers lead by as much as 30 points late in the third quarter.  The final margin of victory was 19 points for the Loggers, never really being challenged late in the game.  "We had some kids step up tonight.  Our bench energy was great and that was fun to see." Said Jones

Lincoln Land was lead in scoring by Marley Smith with 18 points. Sam Lindhorst scored 15 while dishing out seven assists.  Whitney Rumbold scored 14 point to go along with five rebounds. Megan Harrell had another solid game with 12 points and seven rebounds.  The Loggers managed to force 29 Black Hawk turnovers that lead to 28 Logger points.  Black Hawk is currently receiving votes in the latest NJCAA national poll.  The Loggers improve to 8-1 and play host to NJCAA division 1 Rend Lake College on Friday night at Cass Gym.
