Loggers Win by 1 Point in Tuesday Night Contest

The Loggers dominated the first half of the night forcing the Eagles to shoot only 11.8% (4/35), but IVCC was able to hang around by pulling in 11 offensive rebounds which led to 8 of the Eagle 14 first half points. Camren Kincaid paced the Loggers with the first 4 points and had a game leading 8 in the first half while stuffing the stat sheet with 4 each of boards and assists. The Loggers held a 16 point advantage at 20-4, but allowed the Eagles to start to getting in a little rhythm getting back to within 8 on a 8-0 run. The Loggers did enough to slow the IVCC attack and got back to a double digit lead before going in to the break up 28-14.

The script was flipped in the second half as IVCC charged out of halftime the tougher and more intense team forcing turnovers and mistakes to get right back into the game. The Eagles shot out to a 14-5 run to get within 5. The run didn't stop there as IVCC rattled off a 5-0 run to force a Logger timeout. The Eagles kept the pressure on LLCC and took their first lead of the game with under 13:00 to go after a bucket put them ahead 39-38. The Eagles played ahead for the next stretch and got up by as high as 6. Jermale Young got an open three with under 6:00 to give the Loggers the final lead of the game ahead 50-48. The score got tight at 57-56 when the teams traded turnovers and misses until Axel Laby got fouled with :34 left and knocked in both free throws to put LLCC up 59-56. The Loggers forced and turnover with the clock winding down and got the ball back with under :10 left before getting fouled with just a second left. J. Young made 1 of 2 to put the Loggers ahead 60-56. IVCC scored on a last second shot that was knocked down to get to the final score of 60-59.

Five Loggers got to double digits in scoring led by Axel Laby who had a team high 17. Nick Cook, Kyle Leonard, and Camren Kincaid all ended with 10. Jermale Young was a boost off the bench ending with 11. Kincaid also led the team with 8 boards and 6 assists. 

The Loggers get their first win of the season and improve to 1-2. They head back out on the road for the last time this semester on Saturday as they head to Mattoon to take on Lake Land College.
