The Lincoln Land women's basketball picked up their 10th win of the season by defeating Illinois College JV 74-65. The Loggers improved to 10-3.
Freshman Marley Smith scored 8 first quarter points while Madison Lovett drained a three for a 21-15 first quarter lead.
The second quarter saw IC outscore Lincoln Land 24-20. Sophomore Addison Scarlette lead the Logger attack with 6 points. Kirsten Taylor went 4-4 from the free throw line as Lincoln Land took a 41-39 lead into halftime.
Both teams settled in defensively during the third quarter. Each team only allowed 12 points to be scored. Lovett and Smith each scored 4 points to help the Loggers keep their slim lead heading into the final quarter.
Freshman Taylor Nowaski stepped up big for the Loggers in the final frame. She went 4-4 from the free throw line as Lincoln Land outscored IC 21-14. Scarlette and Smith had 6 and 5 points respectively in the quarter to preserve the 74-65 victory.
Marley Smith led all scorers with 21 points while Addison Scarlette contributed 18.
The Loggers return to action Thursday, January 12th as they travel to face Millikin University in Decatur, IL.
