The Lincoln Land Loggers women's team went on the road in a non-conference game and were victorious 71-52 over the Millikin University reserve squad.
The Loggers started slowly in the first quarter and couldn't keep pace with the hot shooting Big Blue. Millikin hit three 3-point baskets in the period and accumulated 17 points on the board taking the lead over the Loggers by eight. In the second period, the Logger defense stepped up and only allowed four points in the period. The Loggers lead 29-21 heading into the half time break.
The second quarter saw the Loggers begin to put some distance between themselves and the Big Blue, leading by as much as 20 points. Millikin wouldn't go away though, The Big Blue used pressure defense and Lincoln Land committed several turnovers before finally calling a time out. This settled the Loggers down allowing the Loggers to pull away down the stretch.
The Loggers were lead in scoring by Madison Lovette and Avrie Schmidt who each scored 13. Taylor Nowaski added 12 points while Addison Scarlette pulled down a team high 10 rebounds.
The Loggers improve to 11-3 on the season and will open MWAC play on Saturday at Spoon River College at 1:00 pm.
