The Lincoln Land women's basketball team picked up their 7th win of the year by defeating St. Louis Community College 72-34.
Lincoln Land lead from start to finish. Sophomore Cassidy Kretschmer provided the early scoring punch with 6 points during the first period. Freshman Elynn Peterson contributed 4 points to help the Loggers to a 24-6 advantage after the first quarter.
St. Louis had their best scoring quarter in the second frame with 14 points. However, Lincoln Land was able to extend the lead behind Marley Smith's 7 point for a 42-20 halftime lead.
A balanced scoring attack by Lincoln Land saw nine different Loggers score in the third period. No player had more than one made field goal in the period but the Loggers were able to score 21 points. The stingy Lincoln Land defense allowed a game low 5 points to St. Louis during the quarter to take a 63-25 advantage into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter was simply a ball control game played out by Lincoln Land. Long offensive possessions and steady defense provided the Loggers with the 72-34 victory.
Marley Smith lead Lincoln Land with 11 points while Cassidy Kretschmer had 8. Elynn Peterson, Kayla Kodat and Taylor Nowaski each contributed 7 points. Peterson, Kodat, Nowaski, Ari Gillespie and Nolee Sollars all hit a 3 point baskets.
Lincoln Land improves their record to to 7-2 on the season.
