Lincoln Land - 84
Fontbonne University JV - 71
On the first Saturday in December, the Lincoln Land Loggers men's basketball team traveled to St. Louis for a match up with the Griffins of Fontbonne University's junior varsity team. Lincoln Land came home victorious 84 to 71.
The Loggers began the game with a strong 10-2 run. Quickly after, LLCC hit a slow stretch and found themselves trailing. Lincoln Land never trailed by more than two possessions and were able to regain the lead and close the half on a similar run from the start of the game, this time a 9-2 run. The half break saw LLCC up 38-34.
Lincoln Land appeared to have the game playing to their advantage when they held a lead for the first 7 minuets of the half before the Griffins rattled off a 10-2 run of their own to take their first lead of the second half at 51-50. Luckily, the Griffin advantage lasted one possession. The two teams traded buckets before the Loggers handed out the most decisive run of the evening. Lincoln Land turned up their defensive pressure and forced multiple turnovers all while rattling off 19 points while Fontbonne only scored 4. The Griffins failed to fully recover and the Logger ran away by as many as 18 on their way to the victory.
For the second game in a row, five Loggers earned points in the double digits. Stephan Douglas had the best statistical game of his young career by getting a double-double with a career high 17 points, while also pulling down a game high 10 boards. Michael Ousley III led all scorers with 18 points, while Camren Kincaid added 17, Axel Laby added 16, and Kyle Leonard added 11.
The Loggers push their record over .500 by improving to 4-3 on the season. The Loggers return to play next Wednesday at home against St. Louis Community College who handed the Loggers their worst loss of the year earlier in the season.
