Carl Sandburg Community College knocked in two free throws with :02.6 seconds left to defeat the Lincoln Land men's basketball team, 66-65.
Earlier this season Lincoln Land blew the doors off of Carl Sandburg on their way to a 42 point victory, tonight was an entirely different ballgame. LLCC trailed for all but a handful of early possessions. The Loggers struggled to score in the first half, shooting only 37% to Sandburg's 52%. Sandburg closed the half on a solid run and went into the break leading 36-26.
The second half was played almost the entire way around that 10 point margin, with Sandburg up as many as 13. The deficit was as many as 12 with only 2:40 to go in the game at 62-50. Lincoln Land scored 11 straight points. A Cameron Kincaid steal and assist to Kyle Leonard with :05.7 seconds left gave LLCC their first lead since 11:00 monuets to go in the first half. Up 65-64 with just seconds left, LLCC was whistled for a foul. Carl Sandburg made both free throws and an Logger heave went wide to give Carl Sandburg the 66-65 victory.
Stephan Douglas ended the night as the leading scorer with 19 points and a game high 8 rebounds. Michael Ousley ended with 18 and Darius Turner got to double digits with 10. Cam Kincaid was held under 10 points for first time in his college career ending with 8.
LLCC falls to 4-5 on the season. No rest, as they head on the road Monday evening to take on Lewis and Clark College.
