Lincoln Land men's basketball dropped their last home game of the season 89-81 to the Trailblazers of John Wood Community College.
Earlier this season the Loggers put together one of their most complete game efforts of the year in an 87-81 loss to the Trailblazers. Tonight nearly mirrored that performance. Neither team was able to pull too far away in the contest and the teams played majority of the game within a few possession of each other. The Loggers avoided a slow start and were able to get out to a 25-16 lead, but John Wood responded with a strong close to the half, including three baskets in the final minute to take a 42-37 lead into the break.
Lincoln Land was able to keep pace with John Wood, but was never within more than 3 in the second half. During one stretch where Lincoln Land cut their deficit to three, the Trailblazers responded with a 9-0 run to go up 12, and a few moments later were able to push it to 13, their largest lead of the game. Lincoln Land was able to respond and avoided the game getting completely away from them. However, Lincoln Land was never able to close closer than 6, and eventually fell by 8 at 89-81.
Three Loggers scored in double digits, Quintez Edwards with 25, Julian Barr with 15, and Ky'Lun Rivers with 10. Barr also dished out a game high 5 assists, while Zach Briggs pulled in a game high 9 boards.
Despite the strong effort, LLCC falls to 2-13 on the season. They will complete the year Sunday by traveling to Champaign to take on the Cobras of Parkland.
