Parkland beats Lincoln Land 25-16, 25-15, 25-10
Parkland showed why they are 9-0 and #2 in the country while LLCC showed their youth on Wednesday as PC swept the Loggers 25-16, 25-15, 25-10. LLCC falls to 3-2 on the season.
LLCC started off strong, taking a lead 10-7 in the first set and standing firm until it reached 13-13 before an error and two Parkland kills created a three point deficit that the Cobras widened quickly, exploiting unforced LLCC errors as well as causing several until LLCC conceded the set. The second set saw LLCC start with a series of error and two Parkland tips for kills that led to a quick 5-0 deficit before Lincoln Land rallied to bring it within two at 9-7. The two teams alternated points until Parkland exploded for a six point run and a final ten-point margin in the set. The third set saw the Cobras jump out early with LLCC unable to mount an attack during the blowout victory.
"We played well at points. The problem is inconsistency. We get in trouble when we have one bad run in a set and wind up playing catch-up and trying to do too much. When you're playing the #2 team in the country, those mistakes are magnified because they exploit the errors, especially the unforced ones," Coach Dietz said afterwards. "We did better on some of the stuff we struggled with last weekend, so that was a positive. It's about building more confidence, more consistency. We'll get there if we can keep focus in practice. Tonight's a loss on the scoreboard, but it's like Sam Hinkie [former Philadelphia 76er general manager] said, 'It's about the process. Don't get caught looking at the record.' I'd add 'yet' to that."
