The Lincoln Land men's basketball team closed out the regular season traveling to East Peoria and falling to the Cougars of Illinois Central College, 82-61.
Lincoln Land had defeated ICC earlier in the season and looked to go 2-0 against the Cougars. ICC raced out to a double digit lead, 14-4 early in the game. The Loggers calmed down and begin slowly crawling back into the game. The Loggers took their first lead at 27-25 with around 5:00 left in the half. ICC closed on an 13-5 run to go in to the half up 38-32.
In the second half the closest LLCC got was 45-40 with around 15:00 remaining in the game. From that point ICC pushed their advantage out to around 10 and it held solid around 10 for the next few minutes. ICC pulled away in the last few minutes and led by the eventual final advantage of 21 with just over 1:00 to play.
Lincoln Land ends the regular season at 5-23 and 2-6 in conference. They will go into NJCAA Region 24 play as the 5 seed and will head right back to East Peoria to take on ICC again Wednesday evening.
Sophomore Nic Hagel led the way for Lincoln Land putting in a team high 15 points. Sophomore DJ Doolin added in 13 and a game high 9 rebounds, while also grabbing 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Sophomore Jake Pennell added 12 and freshman Mitch Hardiek ended with 11.
