Men's basketball gets 83-76 victory

The Lincoln Land Loggers men's basketball team got their second win of the season, beating Illinois Wesleyan JV, 83-76.

Illinois Wesleyan raced out to a 6-0 lead and forced a Logger timeout. LLCC responded with an 8-0 run of their own and took their only first half lead at 8-6. Illinois Wesleyan used 10 offensive rebounds to help pace their scoring efforts in the first half. Wesleyan lead by as many as 8 at 20-12. Sophomore Keon Day helped pace the Loggers in the first half with 10 points. However, LLCC went in to the half trailing by 1 at 38-37.

Just a minute into the second half a Jordan Brooks three gave the Loggers their first lead since 8-6. The Loggers never relinquished that lead the rest of the way. The Logger lead reached a high of 13 on the way to victory. Illinois Wesleyan did chip into the lead a bit, however LLCC never allowed Wesleyan closer than 7 from that point. Freshmen Keon Jones took over the reins in the half as he scored 16 of his team high 25 points. 

Jones led LLCC with 25 points. Sophomore Jordan Brooks added 19, including shooting 5/8 from the three point line. Day ended with 13, and freshmen Zach Briggs just missed a double-double with 11 points and 9 rebounds. 

Lincoln Land is 2-7 on the year and will continue play on Saturday afternoon at home against Bryant and Stratton (Wisconsin).
