Another slow start dooms the Loggers as they fell to Carl Sandburg 79-61.
As has happened multiple times this year, the Lincoln Land Loggers men's basketball team has struggled to start games well. Tonight they found themselves down 24-8 in the first 10:00 of play. It took past that 10:00 mark for the Loggers to get in to double digits in scoring. Sandburg was able to build up a lead as high as 20 in that first half and LLCC went into the half trailing by 19 at 41-22.Â
The start of the second half was the Loggers best period of play. Lincoln Land came out and rattled off a 14-4 run to get the game back within 9 points at 26-45 with about 15:00 to play. Although the Loggers were able to hang around that 9-12 point deficit range, they were unable to gain any more ground. The Chargers were able to push their advantage all the way back out to 20 and the Loggers and eventually fell, 79-61.Â
Freshmen Keon Jones led all scorer with 26, he also pulled in a game high 10 rebounds. Jones also handed out 6 assists in the losing effort. Sophomore Jordan Brooks was the only other Logger able to reach double digits as he ended with 12.Â
Lincoln Land now falls to 2-9 on the season. They close out the year at home for three straight games, beginning Saturday against Illinois Valley Community College.Â
