LLCC played two matches on Day One of the MWAC tournament, splitting the two contests, losing to #1-ranked Parkland before defeating Spoon River.  Each contest was a sweep.  The Loggers could not get anything going against the Cobras who dominated the final two sets in convincing fashion.  "We made mistakes, got tentative and played scared," Coach Dietz noted, "And when that happens, a team like Parkland is lethal.  They'll push harder and we weren't mentally tough enough to withstand that."  Dietz laughed, "Then again, few teams are."  

In the nightcap, the Loggers came out slow, struggling to win the first set against a Spoon River squad coming off a 3-1 victory over Lewis & Clark.  "Ashley [Melton] had a great match.  She finished with six blocks, eight kills, and hit .800," Coach Dietz said afterwards.  "Given that three of our main hitters hit negative, her hitting and that of Mary Hill was huge for us."  The win moved the Loggers to 22-11 going into the second day of the MWAC Tournament.
