The Lincoln Land men's soccer team started Mid-West Atheltic Conference play as they took on Heartland Community College at home Wednesday afternoon. Lincoln Land, who has been hampered by injuries lately, were already down a few players and the blazing heat took its toll early and often. Early on Heartland put a long shot over the head of the Logger goalie and into the goal, and then got two penalty goals close to each other and 20:00 into the game the Loggers found themselves in a 3-0 hole. After settling in and matching Heartland's play the Loggers finally got on the board in the 40th minute when Christian Fierro scored a free kick from 30 yds out. With the goal, LLCC went into half trailing 3-1. 

Lincoln Land came out with some fight in the second half and put themselves within a goal when Christian Fierro scored again on another free kick only 10:00 into the second half. Heartland came back down and scored five minutes later to again put the Loggers in a two goal hole. Fierro again brought the Loggers back into the game when he created another opportunity when he was fouled and the Loggers received a penalty kick. Fierro scored his 3rd goal on the penalty for the hat trick. In the last 10:00 of the game, Heartland got their final goal and put the game out of reach for good. The final score saw the Loggers on the wrong end of an exciting 5-3 game.

The Loggers are now 1-3 on the season, and 0-1 in the conference.Heartland improved to 4-0
