Loggers Win Region XXIV to Advance to NJCAA Division II Nationals
Lincoln Land Freshman Addison Bryant threw a 3 hitter to pick up the win in game two to allow the Loggers to claim the Regional Championship by defeating ICC 3-2. Bryant was named MVP of the Tournament.
Kari Sarhage was 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs for the Loggers. Lincoln Land collected 11 hits and stranded 7 players on base. Madie Sims, Nicole Robinson and Hailey Patrick added 2 hits each in the win.
The Loggers scored twice in the top of the seventh to take a 3-0 lead. But the Cougars rallied with two runs before McLean made the catch for the final out.
Illinois Central defeated Lincoln Land 10-2 in the first game today, force a second game to determine the champion and who would move on the Clinton, Mississippi. Again, Kari Sarhage led the Logger offense with two of the three Logger hits including a solo home run in the 4th.
Paige Lane was the winning pitcher for ICC. Brittany Roady was credited with the loss.
The win in game two gave the Loggers (32-19) the first regional title in school history and first national berth since 2015. LLLC will play in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament May 16-19 in Clinton, Miss.
