Loggers Split In Danville
Devin Smith (6-3) got his second consecutive winning decision in game one of a double header against Danville Area CC. Smith threw 6 innings for the Loggers, striking out 3 and giving up just 2 earned runs. Jack O'Connor came in relief of Smith, and was able to keep the Danville bats quiet for a 10-5 Logger win. Dalton Fletcher had the hot bat in game one, going 4-5 with 4 RBI. Along with Fletcher, John Plattner and Bryce Torricelli both chipped in 2 RBI apiece. Cole Greer and Talon File knocked in the final 2 runs to round out the Loggers offensive attack.
Game two was an ugly loss for the Loggers, as they fell 10-0. Timely hitting that found holes in the defense had the Jaguar offense scoring early and often in the game two route. The Loggers were only able to manage 6 hits, all coming in the first 2 innings as they left the bases loaded both innings.Â
The Loggers sit at 27-25 (15-15 MWAC) on the season. They finish their series with Danville Area Community College tomorrow. This series will end the regular season for both clubs. First pitch of game three is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Springfield at Claude Kracik Field.
