Loggers Drop Two to Heartland 5-6 and 5-7
The Loggers took an early lead in game one only to let it slip away. The Hawks, down 5-1, had a big 6
th inning, scoring 5 runs to take the lead. LLCC was unable to score in the last two innings and lost to Heartland 5-6.
Katie McLean led the Loggers in hitting with 3 hits and two runs scored. Katelyn Presley was 2-for-3 with one run scored. Madie Sims had a hit with 2 RBIs.
Addison Bryant (7-4) was the losing pitcher. Bryant allowed 6 runs (5 earned) with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
LLCC scored first in game two on a solo home run by Kari Sarhage, but the Hawks answered with 3 in the 3
rd inning. Each team scored 1 run in the 5
th inning. Heartland scored 1 in the top of the 7
th inning to lead 5-2. The Loggers came out hot, and scored 3 in the bottom of the 7
th to tie the game 5-5. Elexis Swartzentruber a two-run homer in the top half of the 8
thinning to give Heartland their final lead and the win, 7-5.
Katie McLean and Ashton Dyche each had two hits in game two. Brittany Roady (6-6) went the entire 8 innings for LLCC and was the losing pitcher. Roady allowed 7 runs on 10 hits with 4 walks and 7 strikeouts.
The Loggers are now 24-16 on the year. They will take on Kankakee tomorrow at home, starting the doubleheader at 3 pm.
