Baseball scores walk off win

Planner got game winning single for the Loggers
The Loggers got it done in the bottom of the last inning to complete a 5-4 comeback victory over Triton College Saturday evening. Freshman Jack O'Connor (1-0) came in relief and got his first collegiate win, going 6 1/3 innings of beautiful baseball. The young righty gave up just 1 hit and sent 5 Trojan hitters back to the dugout on strikes. Inheriting a jam and the middle of Triton's lineup, O'Connor was able to get the Loggers back up to the plate quickly, providing energy inning in and inning out fueling their comeback.

Clay Bachman and John Plattner were the heroes in the 9th as they hit in the tying and game-winning runs, respectively. The Loggers squandered many opportunities throughout the game, but were able to convert on the one that counted. The first run in the inning was manufactured on a 2B by Dalton Fletcher to start the rally. Bachman was able to score Fletcher, the tying run, on a frozen rope single to left field. Bryar Jansen pinch ran for Bachman, and advanced from first to third on a throwing error, giving the Loggers a runner on third with just one out. After a strikeout, Plattner stepped into the box. Working a deep count, Plattner shot a single to right field to score Jansen and light the fireworks for the Loggers.

The Loggers improve to 6-7 while riding a 3 game win streak. They play their final game of their spring trip on Sunday against Webber International University at 1:00 at Webber.
