The Lincoln Land Loggers men's soccer team had their final game Wednesday night, when they took on Illinois Central College in Region 24 play.
The Loggers found themselves in a very tough spot, when captain Matheus Sobucki went out 3:00 into the game. Despite that setback the Loggers were able to dig in and continued to play hard, that effort allowed LLCC to out work ICC the whole game with. Unfortunately, that effort produces only few chances to score, and none of those attempts found the net. Luckily in the first half ICC was unable to produce a goal either and the teams went into half tied at 0.
The second half remained locked in a scoreless tie until ICC broke loose with 9 minutes left in the game when Juan Rosique passed to Vincent forment Garcia to put ICC up 1-0. The Loggers then were in desperation mode and pushed everyone into the attack to try to score, but still were unable to produce a goal. ICC got a late breakaway goal with just over a minute left to put the game away and go up 2-0. Josue Resendiz had an incredible performance in the goal for the Loggers, he had 7 great saves to keep LLCC in it all night.
The Loggers finish the year with a record of 6-12.
