#7 LLCC wins 25-15, 25-13, 25-13 over Rend Lake
LLCC came out strong in its second night of Region XXIV matches, defeating Rend Lake 25-15, 25-13, 25-13. The Loggers were paced by a balanced attack as six players tallied five or more kills including Kourtney Bilyeu's perfect 5-for-5 and Delaney Edwards' 7-for-8. While the first set was all about LLCC's offense, Carissa Smith and Bobana Marusic's defense allowed the Loggers to build a16-5 lead in the second set helped by two timely blocks by freshman Maree Taig. The third set remained equal until 5-5 at which point the Loggers started opening space, first to 12-8 and then the final 25-13 behind two thundering Bilyeu kills and precision serving from Edwards. "We talked about focus, going on the road and playing hard from start to finish. Weeknight roadtrips are always different than traveling on weekends because of homework and school, so this was good practice for next week and our other away matches over the next month," Coach Dietz said.
Coach Dietz also noted that LLCC's offense hit at a .495 clip, a school record.
The Logger volleyball team is now 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in Region XIV play. Their next match is Wednesday as they travel to #1 ranked Parkland, who have defeated LLCC in the national championship game the past two seasons.
