The Lincoln Land Logger's #7 ranked volleyball team traveled to Champaign to take on conference rival the #1 nationally ranked Parkland Cobras, Lincoln Land's matchup in the National Championship last season. Lincoln Land started slow, giving up three unforced errors in the first set. That proved the difference since the final score of the first set was 25-22 in a set dominated by the hitting of Parkland's Fia Willis and Lincoln Land's Addie Patton. In the second set, Lincoln Land again spotted the Cobras three points in unforced errors, a critical difference when late in the match Lincoln Land was able to take a 24-23 lead, before Parkland scored the final three points of the set, winning the second set 26-24. The Loggers again began the third set with a string of unforced errors and quickly found themselves down 6-1. Forced to play over aggressive volleyball, Lincoln Land was unable to mount a comeback and Parkland capitalized on the Logger mistakes to win 25-15. After the match Logger Head Coach Dietz said, "It is frustrating to spot the defending National Champion two or three points when that ends up being the difference in the match. You can beat decent teams when you spot them one or two points, but not the number one team in the country. You just tip your hat to Parkland for a great match."
Final Scores: 22-25, 24-26, 15-25
The Logger record is now 8-3 on the season. The Loggers play next Friday at the Illinois Central College Invitational.
