Lincoln Land Wins Two, 20-3 & 7-1

The Loggers swept a double header from Spoon River College on Friday, beating the Snappers in the first two games of their four game conference set 20-3 and 7-1 over at Lenz Field in Jacksonville, Illinois.

In game one, Lincoln Land dominated by hammering out eighteen hits in the five inning, 20-3, shortened game. Xavier Collier led the charge, going 4 for 5 with two doubles, a

homerun, four runs scored and three RBIs. Jonathan Walder (2 for 3) also homered for the Loggers and first baseman Michael Ryan (2 for 3) hit a bases loaded double to drive three runs. Johnny Steinwart and Aaron Steinhoff collected two hits apiece, Steinwart drove in three runs and Steinhoff had five RBIs. Â

Tristan Weaver (8-1) picked up the win for Lincoln Land with his four innings of work. Tristan struck out seven Snapper hitters and walked five while allowing three earned runs on six hits.

Devin Smith (8-0) pitched six solid innings in game two to help the Loggers win 7-1. Smith allowed the only Snapper run on two hits and four walks while striking out ten.

Nick Maton went 4 for 4 with three RBIs to lead the Logger offense, including his sixth homerun of the season. Walder (2 for 3) continued to swing a hot bat, belting his second home run of the day and also added a double.

"Today's weather conditions were not ideal for baseball," coach Riggle said after the games Friday. " But I'm proud of our guys for making the adjustments needed to overcome the elements and finding a way to get the job done."

Lincoln Land is now 28-8 on the season, and 15-7 in the MWAC. The Loggers will look to complete the series with Spoon River on Monday, in Canton, Illinois.
