Softball Splits with Spoon River at Home, 3-6 and 9-7

The Loggers split with Spoon River, losing game one 6-3 and winning game two 9-7.

Morgan Heckman 6-for-8, 5 RBIs
Spoon River scored 4 big runs in the first inning off starting pitcher Jordan Kraft.  Kraft went 5 innings allowing 6 runs (5 earned) with 2 Ks and 1 walk.  Madison Routh relieved Kraft in the 6th inning and held the Snappers to no additional runs on no hits.

Down 4-0, the Loggers answered with 1 run in the second on a ground ball RBI by catcher Lexy Koester.   Spoon River scored 2 more runs in the 4th to make the score 6-1.  LLCC put 2 runs on the board in the 5th inning and were held scoreless in the last two innings to lose 6-3.   Kraft  picked up the loss, she is now 1-3 on the year.   Morgan Heckman had a hot bat in game 1, going 3-for-4 with double and 2 RBIs.  Whitney David was 2-for-3 with a double.   Loggers had 10 hits and left 7 runners stranded.

Game 2 started much the same way as game 1 with the Snappers scoring 2 runs in the first inning, 3 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th.  LLCC  answered back and then the battle for runs began.  At the end of 3 innings the score was tied 3-3.  Spoon scored 1 in the 4th and the Loggers answered scoring 2 in the bottom half.  LLCC led 7-6 going into the 7th inning where the Snappers scored 1 run off of Logger starting pitcher Bri Graham.  Madison Routh relieved Graham in the 7th and shut down their big bats.  Maggie Comerford led off the bottom of the 7th with an infield hit.  Lexy Koester ran for Comerford and Katelyn Presley bunted Koester to 2nd base.   Whitney David followed with a walk off homer to right center to win 9-7.   Madison Routh (2-2) picked up the win in relief.   


Morgan Heckman was 3-for-4 and double with 3 RBIs.  Maggie Comerford was 2-for-4 with a homer and 2 RBIs.  Katelyn Presley was 2-for-3 with 1 RBI and 2 doubles.  LLCC had 12 hits and Spoon River had 13 in game two.

The Loggers will travel Canton, IL to face Spoon River in a double header to end the 4 game set.  Game start is 1 pm.  The Loggers are now 4-10 for the year.
