LLCC Softball Ends Florida Trip, 3-9

Lincoln Land Loggers go 3-9 in Florida.

The Loggers lost the twin bill on Thursday to Pascal Hernando State College, 9-2 and 6-4.  Pascal Hernando scored 5 runs in the first inning of game one and that set the tone.  LLCC came back to score 2 runs in the 2nd inning, but that was all that the Loggers could produce. PHSC scored 2 runs in the 3rd and the 5th innings.  The Loggers were out hit 11-5 for the win.  Bri Graham was the losing pitcher allowing 9 earned runs on 9 hits.  Madison Routh relieved Graham in the 4th inning allowing no runs on no hits in her 3 innings of work.   Morgan Heckman and Katie McLean  were the only Loggers with multiple hits with each going 2 for 4.

Katie McLean lead off game two with a double to left center and scored on a sacrifice fly by Katelyn Presley.  The Loggers scored one run in the 2nd inning, the 5th and again in the 6th, but were unable to get out front of the PHSC  hot bats.  The Loggers out hit 11-9, but left 7 on base.   McLean was 3 for 4 and scored 2 runs.  Gracie Schweighart went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs, and Ashton Dyche was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs.  Jordan Kraft was the losing pitcher, throwing all 6 innings, and allowed 6 earned runs on 9 hits with 4 walks and 2 Ks.

"We were very tired," said Coach John Marsaglia following the week of play.  "Playing 12 games in six straight days is tough on arms and concentration.  I was very proud of the way the girls played, especially on defense."

The Loggers return home to open conference play on Saturday, March 18 at Spoon River (DH).
