The Lincoln Land men's basketball team got back to their winning ways knocking off Danville Area Community College 72-58 for their first win in Mid-West Athletic Conference play this season.

Lincoln Land has dropped their last 5 against the Jaguars of DACC, so this victory is extra enjoyable. The Loggers finally avoided a slow start that has plagued them for the past few games and in the first 10:00 the Loggers held an 8 point lead. Danville was able to slowly chip away and actually took a one point lead late in the first half. Lincoln Land got one last bucket and held the 39-38 lead at the break.
The Loggers never relinquished the lead and slowly built their lead to up as high 15. Danville was able to cut it below double digits on a few occasions, but never got closer than 8. Great team defense and Lincoln Land taking care of the ball helped give the Loggers to victory.
"We worked hard all week on defense and rebounding and our guys came out and executed very well. We committed a few too many turnovers in the first half, but executed very well in the second half. I told our guys play with this effort and we will continue to be successful in this conference," commented Head Coach Chad Jones following the win.
Lincoln Land led in nearly every statistical category, out rebounding Danville 34-23, committed 3 less turnovers, and outshooting the Jaguars 42.6% to 44%. Freshman D'Aaron Owens was the motor who led the Loggers, getting a team high 16. Owens also led the team with 6 rebounds and pulling in 2 steals. He got going early as he had 6 of the Loggers first 10 points. Freshman Trace Gentry knocked in 5 threes for 15 points. Sophomores Harold Robertson and Ryan Below added 11 each.
The Loggers improved to 14-6 on the season and 1-2 in the MWAC. Lincoln Land heads on the road to take on Lincoln College on Wednesday night.
