Loggers Fly Past the Eagles, 80-52

2324Lincoln Land improved to 12-4 on the season after defeating Robert Morris Springfield for the second time this season, 80-52.

Lincoln Land struggled early as Robert Morris was able to keep it close throughout most of the first half and actually led 19-18 15:00 into the game. Sub-par shooting slowed the Loggers for most of the game, however, Lincoln Land got some late buckets in the first half including a three pointer by freshman Caleb Socha to push their lead out to 35-28.

The Loggers dominated the first 10:00 of the second half as Robert Morris only scored 4 points and Lincoln Land pushed their lead out to 26 during this stretch. The freshman gave Lincoln Land a lift as they were the group that were able to improve on the Logger advantage.

"A win is a win, but I was disappointed with our play in the first half. We did not do most of the things we talked about during the week. Second half we hunkered down and held them to 4 points over 10 minutes to start the half, that was the effort needed all night. We have one more game and then it gets rough," stated Chad Jones following the win.

All but one Logger who played, scored, and four Loggers ended in double digits in scoring. Freshman Trace Gentry led all scorers with 14, sophomores Alex Portwood and Harold Robertson had 12 a piece, and sophomore Ryan Below had 10.

Lincoln Land stays at home to play MacMurray JV on Monday for their last non-Region game of the year
