Loggers Lose on the Road to the Cobras

Lincoln Land - 51
Parkland - 91

The Lincoln Land men's basketball team matched up with top conference foe Parkland on Saturday afternoon and got outpaced in the second half before falling 91-51.

The Loggers knew they had their hands full with the Cobras of Parkland, who had already won the MidWest Athletic Conference championship and were able to match much of what Parkland did early. Lincoln Land got the first two field goals and held an early, albeit brief, lead. The game began with under 3:00 to play in the half. Lincoln Land got within two at 28-26 when Parkland closed the half on a 9-0 run including a three at the buzzer to go into the break leading 37-26.

The deficit was not too much to overcome at this point and LLCC even got back within 8 at 39-31 just minutes in to the second half. Three runs expanded the lead for Parkland who went on first a 9-0 run, followed immediately by a 12-0 run. The Loggers then got back to back buckets for first time since early second half before Parkland gave the decisive 18-0 run to put the game away for good. Over a 13:00 stretch Parkland outscored the Loggers 42-7. Although LLCC kept it close in the first half, the second half ended with Parkland putting up 54 to the Loggers 25.  Parkland led by as many as 43 and ended the day with the 91-51 victory.

Two Loggers got to double digits, AJ Tillman with 13 and Stephen Braun came off the bench and also ended with 13.

Lincoln Land is now 3-23 on the season and 1-10 in MWAC play.

The final game of the regular season will also be a sophomore day recognition for the Loggers next Saturday at 3:00 pm against John Wood Community College.
