Loggers Sweep Lincoln College 10-4 and 10-4

Lincoln Land Softball swept the Lynx of Lincoln College today 10-4 and 10-4 in conference and region doubleheader.  The Loggers are now 10-6 on the year and 4-0 in the MWAC.

1919The Loggers trailed 4-0 going into the bottom of the 4th inning when they answered the call by scoring 5 runs to take the lead. The Loggers had 9 hitters reach safely in the inning.  They followed with 5 more runs in the 5th inning with the big blow coming from a 3 run blast to left field by freshman Maggie Comerford (1 HR).  Comerford was 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs in game one.  Morgan Heckmand also had 3 hits in the win.  Taylen Balding, Anna Walschleger and Courtney Reeves added 2 hit each as well.  Bri Graham (3-1) was the winning pitcher.  Graham went 4 innings, allowed 4 runs on 6 hits.  Jordan Kraft relieved Graham to hold the Lynx at only 4 runs.

The Loggers trailed 3-1 going inton the bottom of the 4th inning before scoring 4 to take the lead 5-4.   The Loggers scored 2 in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to win game two as well 10-4.  Morgan Heckman again had a hot bat in game two as she went 4 for 4, scoring 3 times and 1 RBI.  Madison Ohnesorge and Jessica Hunt each had 2 hits in the win.  Morgan Mansur (5-2) went 5 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs and collecting 3 strike outs.  Jordan Kraft relieved Mansur and picked up the save.

"We didn't make the plays that were needed early in both games that we normally do," said coach John Marsaglia.  "We were a little sloppy, but a great team effort, 29 total hits allowed us to come back in both games to sweep a very good hitting Lincoln College team.  Both starters had to work hard today against Lincoln's batters.  Jordan Kraft was almost perfect in relief today!"
