MBB Lose Final Regular Game of the Season, 97-83

John Wood - 97
Lincoln Land - 83

The Lincoln Land men's basketball team dropped their regular season finale to John Wood 97-83.

1740
Eddie Lonmeyer, 21 points
The Loggers have had some disappointing stretches over the past few games and they avoided that early let down and built up a 7 point lead early in the game. John Wood fought back and each team held slim leads closing the half and the Loggers went in to half up 41-40.

The game remained back and forth for much of the early second half. John Wood built a decent lead of 6, but Lincoln Land chipped it down and tied it. With 7:16 left it was a two point game with John Wood leading 71-69. Lincoln Land went cold at the wrong time and the Blazers went off on a 16-2 run. John Wood was able to pull away from there and led by as many as 16 down the stretch. The Loggers did fight to the end trying to force turnovers and missed free throws, but John Wood was pure from the line and made 15 of 18 free throws down the stretch. Turnovers also doomed the Loggers who committed 17 in the game. John Wood sealed victory with a late lay up and then steal that pushed the final to 97-83.

"We just went bad at the wrong time. I'm proud of our fight until the end. We now have a tough challenge ahead with Region Tournament," commented Head Coach Chad Jones stated after the game.

Sophomore Eddie Longmeyer led Lincoln Land on scoring by putting in 21 points. Longmeyer ends the season as the leading scorer in the conference. Freshman Alex Portwood shot the ball well early going 4/4 from three in the first half and he finished with 17.  Freshmen Harold Robertson and Jacob Know got into double digits with 12 and 11 respectively.

Lincoln Land ends the regular season at 16-15 and fall to 4-6 in the conference for the year. They will head to Parkland next Friday for the Region 24 tournament.
