LLCC - 53 The Lincoln Land men's basketball team dropped their fourth conference game in a row to Parkland College, 71-53.
The Cobras of Parkland raced out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. Lincoln Land was able to work their way back into the game and forced a Parkland timeout with 4:00 to go in half when they cut the Parkland lead to 32-29. Parkland closed the half on a 6-0 run and went in to the break 38-29.
Lincoln Land stayed cold to start the second half and Parkland took advantage. It was over 10 minutes of game play between Logger baskets and by that time the Loggers trailed 50-31. Parkland went on a 30-7 run at one point and led by as many as 26 on their way to victory.
Lincoln Land had one bright spot and that was sophomore Shaquille Edwards who scored 16 points and was one of the few sources of energy for the Loggers. Freshman Alex Portwood scored 12 on 4/6 from three point range. Sophomore Eddie Longmeyer added 12. In the first half Longmeyer surpassed the 1,000 point mark for his career at Lincoln Land.
Lincoln Land ends the season on the road against John Wood in Quincy. Lincoln Land falls to 16-13 on the year and 4-5 in the conference.
