LLCC – 79
Hannibal LaGrange - 47
Freshman Trace Gentry
The Lincoln Land men's basketball team finally got to play at home after four straight road games to start the year and the Loggers came away victorious 79-47 over Hannibal LaGrange's JV team. Lincoln Land did come out a little flat to begin the game and trailed 6-4 very early in the game. From there on it was all Loggers as they raced out to a 23 point lead in the first 9:00 of the game and held a 24 point lead at half.
The second half Hannibal LaGrange came out and scored the first 7 points of the second half, but that was the end of the run by Hannibal LaGrange. Lincoln Land began pushing their lead out and led by 32 points with 13:00 to go. The lead held in the high 20s and low 30s the rest of the way and the Loggers made the last basket of the game to push their lead back out to the high mark of 32.
"This was a good game for us to get back in the win column. We had a few guys who were able to get some shots to go in and that bodes well for our future. We have to continue to improve every chance we get and I felt like we did that this evening," Head Coach Chad Jones commented following the victory.
The Loggers played everyone double digit minutes and all but one Logger scored. Freshman Trace Gentry led all scorers with 14, making four threes out of six attempts (66.7%) and sophomore Sam Kaufman was the only other Logger in double digits with 10. Lincoln Land out rebounded Hannibal by 14 (34-20) and shot 55.8% from the field (29-52) including 13 of 27 (48%) from behind the 3 point arc.
Lincoln Land improves to 3-2 on the year, ending a two game skid. Lincoln Land will stay home to take on Lindenwood-Belleville's JV Saturday afternoon.
