Springfield, IL -
LLCC defeated Rend Lake in the first match of the tournament which also doubled as LLCC's first Region XXIV match of the season, defeating Rend Lake 25-7, 25-14, 23-25, 25-10. The serving of Brook McKinney and Kendall Knop did the trick for the Loggers, keeping Rend Lake from running their offense for most of the match, aided by Hannah Ohlsen who tallied 5 of LLCC's 13 total blocks. "Game three was shaky," Coach Dietz said after the match. "We were up 20-12 and just assumed Rend Lake would go away. Even a couple timeouts didn't help. Afterwards I noted that with college, teams don't just go away, that this is the 'next level' and that they need to treat every game, every point that way. We then came out for the fourth game and did just that." Tiffany Sunderlin's string of double-doubles was broken.

LLCC then played Lake Land College, who is receiving votes in the NJCAA D-1 poll and came into the match with four wins already in the young season. In the first game, the Lakers kept it close, holding a lead at 9-8 before LLCC went on two long rallies, turning it around and gaining a 18-11 lead, eventually winning 25-17. LLCC then came out and put together two more consistent games, sweeping Lake Land 25-21 and 25-18. The Loggers were led by blockers Claire Reinthaler and Brenna Perinar who contributed three each while Tiffany Sunderlin led all hitters with 13 kills.
