Lincoln Land closed out their regular season dropping a heartbreaker 63-61 to the Trail Blazers of John Wood Community College.

The Loggers started the game very sluggish. In the first half Lincoln Land trailed by 11 at one point and went in to the locker room down 7 points.

During the second half the Loggers were able to keep the deficit in single digits. The two teams went back and forth trading baskets on 11 possession. Lincoln Land slowly chipped away and tied the game with :28 seconds left for the first time since early in the second half. The Trail Blazers held for the last shot of the game. With :04 seconds left John Wood missed the game winning shot, but secured a long rebound. John Wood's Peter Odia was able to get the shot off before the buzzer, which sounded while the ball was in the air, to win the game.  The win also gave John Wood at least a share of the conference championship. Sophomore Brody Gronewold of John Wood led all scorers with 16.

"This stung. We have been so close all year and today was a small version of that. We play great defense, they miss the shot, but we don't secure the rebound and they are able to convert at the end. The good news is we are right there and playing well with post season coming up. I have faith that we can put it together and wins some games in our tournament," commented Coach Chad Jones after the game.

Lincoln Land was led in scoring by freshman Eddie Longmeyer who put in 14 points. He was joined in double digits by sophomore Justin Thomas who had 13 and freshman Edin "Dino" Mehmedovic who had 10. Lincoln Land was able to outrebound the Blazers pulling down 39 rebounds to John Wood's 26. However, 16 turnovers doomed Lincoln Land.

Lincoln Land ends the regular season 14-16, 0-10 in the conference. The Region Tournament starts on Friday March 6 at Cass Gymnasium. The Tournament will feature 6 games played over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
