LLCC - 93
Harry S. Truman College - 53
Lincoln Land played their second game in as many days at the Harry S. Truman Tip Off Classic against host Truman College and came away with a resounding victory 93-53.
Lincoln Land never trailed in the game, nor have they yet this season, on their way to victory. The Loggers led 44-20 at half and held a lead at one point of 47. The Loggers for the third game in a row dominated statistically, coming out on top on nearly all categories. Lincoln Land outshot Truman, along with out rebounding, forcing more turnovers, and coming away with more steals. Those things spelled success for the Loggers who were never seriously threatened during the game.
Lincoln Land had balanced scoring this evening led by sophomore Eddie Longmeyer who had a game high 22. Sophomore Harold Robertson added 19, sophomore Edin "Dino" Mehmedovic had 17, and freshman Jacob Knox added 11 to join Longmeyer in double digits. Mehmedovic barely missed a double double pulling down 9 boards. Longmeyer continued solid play by adding 7 assists, 9 steals (both game highs), and grabbed 4 rebounds.
"Anytime you win two games in two days it is an accomplishment, but to win them the ways we did are great. We played very solid and made very few mistakes tonight. We did not shot the ball very well, but were able to get ourselves easy buckets in our offense and off of steals. We face a great team Tuesday and will need to do all these things to put ourselves in a position to win," stated Head Coach Chad Jones following the win.
Lincoln Land is now 3-0 on the year. Tuesday they will head to Burlington, IA to take on NJCAA D1 powerhouse Southeastern Iowa.
NOTE: Sophomore Riley Spencer was wrongly credited 1 made free throw, thus adding one point to his and team totals. Spencer ended with 9 points and Lincoln Land had 93.
