LLCC Record: 39-5LLCC advanced with a four-set victory over 3-seed Johnson County to the Final Four where it will face the 2-seed and defending national champions, Glendale Community College. The first game was tight with neither team leading at any point by more than three with the Loggers pulling out a 25-23 victory. Game two was dominated by Johnson, 25-18, as was the first 3/4 of Game Three which saw the Cavaliers take a 21-15 lead and hold it to 22-18 before LLCC came back and tied the game at 22. After that, points alternated for six rotations until the Loggers won 30-28. Game four started like game three with a Johnson lead before LLCC tied it at 7. The two teams alternated points the rest of the way with neither team able to take more than a single point lead until the final Logger point for the match 25-23.
"Wow, that was a lot of fun," Coach Dietz said after the match. "I told the Internet-TV guy this would be a great match if both teams showed up to play and boy did they. It was exciting from start to finish--you had hustle plays, thundering kills, big blocks both ways. Jennifer has a great program, so that was a nice win for us, but it's always tough when you are beating people who are friends that you respect."
LLCC now plays Glendale CC at 630pm, MST, on Friday for a chance to advance to the national title game.
