Lincoln Land defeated Heartland Community College 4-0 in their first game of the day in Mattoon, Illinois. Advancing in the winner's bracket, the Loggers took on the Cougars of Illinois Central College only to lose game two 4-0. LLCC will advance in the losers' bracket to face Parkland Community College at 11 am on Saturday in Mattoon.
LLCC scored 1 run in the first and second inning and 2 runs in the 3rd, which was enough for starting pitcher Katie Lange. Katie Lange (W, 10-1) went the distance as she scattered 7 hits to win 4-0. Lauren Windisch (2-for-4) and Rachel Wisner (2-for-3) were the only Logger hitters with multiple hits. Coach Marsaglia said, "This was the best defensive game the Loggers have played this year. Katie (Lange) threw a great ground ball game and kept the big bats of Heartland from scoring."
Sadie Mosher (7-4) picked up the loss in game two as she allowed 4 runs on 10 hits. Mosher walked 1 and struck out 5. The Loggers managed only 6 hits in the loss. Torey Sorensen (3-for-3) was the only Logger with multiple hits. The Loggers left 6 runners on base.
