Good pitching and big hitting is the secret to winning a doubleheader as LLCC defeats Lincoln 9-0 and 14-3 in a conference matchup in Lincoln. The Loggers out hit the Lynx 14 hits to 3 in game one. Morgan Smith (7-0) threw a shutout through 5 innings as the game ended by the 8 run rule. Smith had 5 strikeouts to her efforts. Lauren Windisch was 2-for-3, Torey Sorensen was 2-for-2, Melinda Wilson 2-for-3 and Sadie Mosher led the Logger offense with 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Sorensen and Claire Dubree had triples along with doubles by Mosher, Rachel Wisner and Rachel Hastings.
Game two the Loggers posted 11 hits to win 14-3. LLCC came out swinging their bats as they scored 5 runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings. Unable to score the Loggers scored 4 more runs in the 6th inning to end the game by the 8 run rule. Claire Dubree led the Logger offense going 3-for-4 and 1 RBI. Katie Price was 2-for-5 and Stephanie Watkins was 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Jaimey Watrous and Morgan Smith had doubles for the Loggers. Whitley Baker (8-0) pitched 4 innings holding the Lynx scoreless on 3 hits and 5 strikeouts. Hayley Long worked the last 2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Long struck out 4 of the 6 outs to end the game.
Coach Marsaglia, "it is always good to win two...our conference is so tough and on any day, anyone can win." Marsaglia reflected after the game, "Our reserve players stepped in to give our starters a much needed rest and they performed extremely well. I was proud of the way we played."
The Loggers are now 39-10 on the year.
