LLCC fell to Heartland 11-0 and 11-10 in a conference and region double-header today at LLCC. Heartland produced 11 runs on 13 hits in an 8 run ruled game (5 innings). The Hawks scored 9 runs in the 4
th inning on 8 hits including a 2 run homer by Ashli King. Starting pitcher Claire Dubree went 3.1 innings allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. Relief pitcher Katie Lange threw 1 inning allowing 7 runs on 6 hits. Sadie Mosher finished the game pitching 1 inning allowing 1 hit and 1 strike out. Breanna Wonderly held the Loggers to just 3 hits to pick up the win.
Heartland scored two runs in the first inning of game two and the Loggers answered with 3 runs in their half of the inning. Neither team could muster any runs in the 2
nd inning. Both teams answered with 2 run each in the 3
rd inning. The Hawks had a big 4
th inning scoring 4 runs and the Loggers answered with 3 runs of their own in the bottom half. Again neither team scored in the 5
th and once again each team produced 1 run in the 6
th. With two outs in the 7
th inning, Heartland scored 3 runs on a three-run homer by Alexis Tarver (5-for-5 with 6 RBIs). LLCC came back once again scoring 2 runs before leaving the tying run at second to lose 11-10. Starting pitcher Morgan Smith allowed 7 runs in her 3 innings of work before being relieved Sadie Mosher who picked up the loss. Mosher went 4 innings allowing 4 runs on 7 hits with 6 strikeouts. Heartland had 15 hits in their 11-10 win, while the Loggers hammered out 12 hits in their efforts. Lindsay Floyd was 3-for-4, 3 RBIs with a 3 run homerun and a double. Laura Bonds and Kayla Jacobs were both 2-for-4 at the plate.
LLCC is now 26-5 and 8-2 in the MWAC.
