Loggers 5, Lynx 3 at home today against region foe Lincoln College. Freshman Adrian Manzano was the offensive hero today with 4 goals putting him to a team leading 10 goals on the season. The defensive hero was Blake smith who hasn't played a single game in goal all season and he came up big for the Loggers today who won their first game in the last six contests.

Adrian Manzano started the scoring off just 12 minutes into the first half when he slid a Timmy Kasa pass down the middle of the Lynx net past their goalie. Less than 10 minutes later the same duo created the second goal of the match which resulted in a fantastic Manzano goal. LLCC held the lead until the 33rd minute when Lincoln College followed up on a deflected shot to cut the lead to one. The Loggers lead 2-1 until 36th minute when Marco Murillo assisted on Adrian Manzano's 3rd goal and hat trick. The first half ended with LLCC up 3-1. Logger Coach Shawn Dunas stated, "I felt very good about our first half performance. I can't remember the last time we scored 3 goals in a game let alone in a single half! All across the board as looked like a team."
Second half play saw Lincoln draw first blood seven minutes into the half with a breakaway goal. Coach Dunas stated, "All I could think was oh no, the nightmare is happening again" Adrian Manzano put that nightmare to an end when he stole the ball from a lynx defender and beat the goalie for his 4th and final goal of the match. The nightmare returned four minutes later though when Lincoln knocked on the door with their 3rd goal to put the match back within a goal. Finally in the 36th minute of the match freshman Naba Alzhyri scored for the third game in a row on a beautifully placed free kick to the top right corner of the goal. Alzhyri's goal proved to be all the insurance the loggers needed as they triumphed 5-3 for a Region XXIV victory.
Coach Dunas reflected on the big win, "I am proud of my boys. It was certainly a team effort today. We had 14 players eligible and healthy enough to play and every single one of them contributed. They all played with heart and determination. I couldn't be more proud of the way Blake Smith stepped up and played for his team today. Adrian Manzano nearly doubled his goal total in one game. Joe Cowles and Timmy Kasa played their best games of the season and Kevin Bertilino, who has been our most consistent player all season, finished the game strong even after Jen had to patch him up after a tough kick to the face. We seem to get better each day and we are still peaking. At this rate I really like our odds come post season time. "
The Loggers will travel Saturday to take on Southwestern Illinois College.
