The Loggers split with the Heartland Hawks in a conference double header in Bloomington. Game one went to the Hawks 8-5. Heartland had 13 hits to the Loggers 10. Max Rhodes, Jake Lance and Carter Pranger led the Loggers in hitting with 2 hits apiece. Lance and Pranger were the only Loggers with extra base hits. Pranger doubled in the 5
th inning and Lance hit a 2 run homer in the 8
th. Clint Sestak, now 5-1 on the season, picked up the loss going 4 innings and allowing 8 runs on 12 hits. Brendan Fickert went 4 innings in relief allowing just 1 hit and no runs.
Cory Fanning’s 3 run homer was the difference in game two. The Loggers came out on top in game two winning 5-2. The Hawks had 5 hits while the Loggers had only 4. Game 2 was tied 2-2 going into the top of the 7
th. Brandon Weller reached safely on a single and Jake Lance was hit by a pitch. Logger catcher, Cory Fanning hit a 3 run homered to take the lead 5-2. Starting pitcher Ridge Ackerman held the Hawks scoreless in the 7
th for the win. Ackerman allowed 3 runs on 5 hits woth 5 strikeouts. Ridge Ackerman is now 5-3 on the season.
