The LLCC softball team hosted Lincoln College in their first MWAC games of the season. The Loggers won the first game in 5 innings 12-3 and completed the sweep defeating the Lynx 11-8.
Claire Dupree (2-3) held Lincoln College to 3 runs on just 2 hits while striking out 4 hitters in game one. The Lady Loggers had 10 hits in the opening game. Payton Billups, Kayla Jacobs, Torey Sorensen and Lauren Windisch each had two hits apiece in the first game. Windisch was on base in all four at bats. She also scored 2 runs as well as driving in 2 teammates. Kayla Jacobs and Torey Sorensen each doubled and Jacobs and Stephanie Watkins tripled. Lauren Windisch had 3 stolen bases and Payton Billups swiped two.
The Loggers took an early lead in game two, outscoring Lincoln College 6-3 when starting pitcher Katie Lange was lifted for freshman pitcher Whitley Baker. Baker went 1.1 innings before Morgan Smith game in to close the game and pick up her 2
nd win on the year. Smith went 2.2 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 4 Lynx hitters. Lincoln College tied the game with 1 run in the top of the 6
th inning and the Loggers responded with 3 runs in the bottom half. Sarah Worster went 3-for-5 with 4 RBIs in game two. Hannah Dudley was 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a double. Payton Billups and Brittany Hembrough also contributed with 2 hits each. Billups had a triple and Hembrough had 2 doubles. The Loggers won game two 11-8 and they are now 2-0 in the MWAC and 7 -9 overall.
