Lincoln Land Men's Basketball team headed over to Quincy to take on John Wood Community College for the second time this season. Earlier this year John Wood beat LLCC 61-53.
Lincoln Land has made a bad habit of digging themselves into holes and today was no different. Lincoln Land trailed 33-15 in the first half. Lincoln Land made a small run to end the half and trailed by nine, 35-26 heading into the break. The Blazers benefited on connected on 50% of the three point attempts and out rebounding the Loggers.
The Blazers pushed the lead out to 15 early in the second half. The Loggers called a timeout and settled thing down. Lincoln Land played the better basketball for the next 12 minutes and cut the lead down to 3 with 1:30 to go. Unfortunately a turnover and a missed jump shot combined with 4 clutch free throws by John Wood sealed the game. The final horn sounded after another missed jump shot by Lincoln Land with the Loggers on the losing end 55-50.
"We can't keep digging ourselves into holes. After the first 12 minutes we out scored them 35-22. We just came out of the gate slow. We consistently show we can play with our opponents, we just need to put 40 minutes together." Stated Coach Chad Jones following the loss.
Marcus Graham and Garrett Williams led the way in scoring for the Loggers with 11 apiece.
LLCC falls to 13-11 on the season and are still searching for their first conference win.
