This past Monday found the Loggers ranked 17
th in the NJCAA poll. The Loggers faced off with the 14
th ranked team in the nation, Illinois Central College on Wednesday, October 2
nd. LLCC was up for the challenge and managed to pull out a 2-1 victory in overtime.
Darwin Soto scored the first Logger goal on a Harry White rebounded shot that he headed into the back of the net. Keeper, Ubaldo Olvera came up big making a fantastic save on a penalty kick and preserving the Loggers 1-0 lead. ICC scored a goal to tie the score 1-1 on a penalty kick in the second half. Regulation play ended tied and forced an overtime period. Three minutes into the overtime, Darwin Soto scored his second goal and the win on a Tajay Small pass.
"The win was huge for the Loggers taking them to 5-0 in the region and 10-2 overall," Coach Dunas stated. "We had heart in the overtime and came out strong to get the job done. I am very proud of these young men both on and off the pitch."
The Loggers next match is home Saturday, October 5
th at 1 pm versus Heartland CC.
