Lincoln, IL – October 18, 2013
The Lady Loggers opened strong in the MWAC Tournament hosted by Lincoln College. The Loggers defeated the host school, Lincoln College 3-0 and finished the night beating Lewis & Clark in three straight games, 3-0. The Loggers improve their record to 26-3.
LLCC never trailed against Lincoln College, heading to a three-game sweep. Pacing the way for the Loggers were Michaleen Forman who led a balanced attack with eight kills on seventeen swings and Sammie Voils and Jordan Ballinger who each put down six balls.
Coach Jim Dietz commented on the play of the Loggers, "We did a nice job of distributing the ball this evening which is a credit to Taylor Harper's decision making, but just as importantly, to our serve-receive passing. Tessa Amsden, especially had a good match."
On a roll from the first match, LLCC dominated Lewis & Clark in the night's second contest, winning 25-14, 25-13, 25-17. Amsden led the defense with ten digs while contributing three of the team's four aces while Morgan Corn blocked three balls and hit .400 for the match, one of five Logger hitters to hit .333 or better for the contest.
"We started strong and stayed up for the entire match. We're still working on communications issues, but it was good to see us play a full match without letting up at any point."
