Lady Loggers Sweep Lincoln College

Key hitting is the key to victory
Springfield, IL – The Lady Loggers sweep the Lincoln Lynx 8-1 and 11-3.  Walks and good base running gave the Loggers an easy victory over Lincoln College in the first game.  Lincoln Land scored three in the 2nd inning, two in the 3rd and one each in innings the rest of the way out. 
 
Kayti Lundin picked up her 14th win (14-5) going the distance and holding the Lynx to just one run.  Lundin gave up five hits and struck out five.   Kaity Schultz was the leading hitter for LLCC going 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.  Sami Estill was also 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.
 
Lincoln came back quickly in the second game, scoring three runs in the first inning off of starting sophomore pitcher Payge Bowen.   Bowen walked a batter then gave up a hit before walking the third batter.  The next two Lincoln College hitters also got base hits before Bowen settled down and struck out two of the next three hitters.  
 
The Lady Loggers came right back in the bottom of the first inning to score three runs as well.  Bowen then held the Lynx scoreless for the rest of the game.   Payge Bowen picked up her 9th win (9-4) on the season.  She gave up seven hits, two walks and struck out six.
 
Kaity Schultz collected two more hits this game and a total of four RBIs on the day.  Makenzie Carter was 2-for-2 and she hit her 6th home run on the season.  Jori Gleich also added two hits in the second game.  Katy Bettis hit a two out-walk off base hit to score Sam Remmert in the 6th inning.
