Springfield, IL – Softball splits with Number 3 ranked Heartland. Game one left the Loggers short 6-3. In the second game the Logger’s bats came alive and defeated the Hawks 13-1.
Brittney Reecer suffered the loss in the first game giving up only 2 earned runs. The Loggers were out hit 8-7 with Sami Estill and Marissa Jenkins the only hitters with more than one hit. Beth Wilson, Heartland freshman pitcher struck out 10 Logger hitters.
The Loggers scored 3 in the first, 7 in the second and 3 in the third innings to make the second game into a 5 inning contest. Jen Detmer was 3-for-3 with three run homer in the 3
rd inning. Detmer had 6 RBI’s for this game. Emily Mordacq hit a two run homer in the 2
nd inning. Winning pitcher was Kayti Lundin. Lundin gave up one run on 5 hits, no walks and 4 strike outs.
