Lincoln Land men's basketball team took the road up to Elgin to take on Elgin Community College and came out with a big non-conference win against the Spartans 72-54.
At half it was a slim 34-32 for the Loggers but the second half was a different story. The Loggers raced out to a 10 point lead following an 8-0 to start the second half. The lead hung around 10 until a put back dunk by Dwight Cunningham pushed the lead to 17. It what was a great example of balanced scoring the Loggers had Garrett Williams, Dwight Cunningham, Reed Willenborg and Bryan Bridges with 11 apiece. Quenton Lowe chipped in 10. Cunningham led the team with 8 rebounds and Willenborg contributed 5 assists.
"This win was big in making sure we stay hot going into Christmas Break. This was a great all-around game by our guys," Coach Chad Jones.
"The team really came together and we all had a role in the win,” said Freshman Reed Willenborg.
The Loggers are now 6-2 and head back up north on Tuesday to take on Illinois Valley Community College on Tuesday.
